On Primordiax a character's class determines the way that character primarily gains experience points (XP) which allows progression. While there are several ways on Primordiax to gain experience (including exploration, achievement, and task experience), the classes determine whether a character gains experience via combat, crafting and trading, or by performing support functions for other characters.

Combat class characters gain experience by fighting non-player creatures and delving into dungeons. This is the traditional way of gaining experience in most roleplay games.

Support class characters gain experience based on performing support functions. This includes healing other characters, crowd control, picking locks, and searching for traps among other activities. Support characters also make a percentage of their experience when winning a combat encounter or a crafting encounter.

Trade class characters gain experience by creating items, also known as crafting, and trading those items to others.
